𝗖𝗦𝗘 𝗶𝗻 𝗧𝗶𝗲𝗿 𝟮 𝗼𝗿 𝗖𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗵𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗧𝗶𝗲𝗿 𝟭 𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗲𝘀? One of hardest questions for current IIT Aspirants.

Firstly, your placement is not decided by your college tag but your overall work experience and your CGPA. All good companies put a CGPA cutoff to allow you to sit in placement interviews, and after that, your skillset matters a lot. You have to be able to display your communication and smartness in interviews. Being in a good college doesn't spoon-feed you placements. It'll only help you go on the stage. How you perform for the audience is up to you. 

Old IITs will offer you those things and precious opportunities that new IITs, or famous private colleges won’t. If you are determined to do something in your life and keep up the grind, then even a low branch at old IITs will give a very solid boost for any future endeavours. The pristine alumni network and the network you will be able to gather around you will definitely give you leverage. It'll give your work credibility.

In any case, you should try be among the top students of your batch to land a real good placement. In old IITs, having CSE and Circuit branches, is like life made easy for you, but be prepared that the academic curriculum is pretty tough for them. In lower branches you might not be easily handed placements, but if you are determined and enthusiastic about doing something, you can do literally anything by taking advantage of the opportunities. There is a reason 2500+ startups have been founded in the 7 Old IIT's.

I highly recommend people with ranks under 6-7k to make your decision after thoughtful consideration. You've achieved what a lot of others couldn't after preparing for the past few years. You gave JEE because everybody was going to. Don't force yourself to choose a college because everybody wants you to. These 4/5 years will plan out your next 40 years of work.
